Of IELTS and Absolute 'Jakun-ess'I got my IELTS test over and done with last Saturday, the 23rd of Jan. The listening/reading/writing sections went well I would say and I'm pretty confident of getting the bands I require. I wish I could say the same for my speaking test though. The test was at 5pm and considering the fact that I had to wake up at 6am, my brain was on the verge of shutting down by the time it was my turn. I didn't come up with as much points as I could have, given a fresh mind. lol I expected to get an English interviewer but ended up with a very intimidating looking Chinese lady =/ I was nervous at the start and pretty sure my face was shaking as I mumbled answers to her questions. lol But we'll see what happens. Please just give me the band I need. I am not keen on spending another 300 AUD to retake the test! Fingers crossed!
After the listening/reading/writing test in the morning, Mum and Dad treated me to a high-tea at Corus Hotel. I haven't been to a high-tea for ages and man it felt good to stuff myself full of all kinds of food :D I had fried rice, mussels in some kind of coconuty sauce, curry chicken, fish, salad, mushroom soup, rojak, ice kacang, cakes, tarts, fruits, coffee and ice cream topped with lots of chocolatey stuff :) Choc sprinkles, choc flakes, choc syrup.. everything chocolate! Yum. It was a surprise that none of us got stomach upsets after that, considering the different types of food we stuffed down our throats at one go! LOL
2 funny incidents happened, that I'd like to jot down. The first one happened when me and Dad tried to make some ice kacang. It was a DIY one. So, okay I went to the ice shaver machine and pushed the bowl against it, as is shown on the sign. But the machine was so unbelievably loud I jumped back in shock. And me and dad just stood there laughing. Seeing how useless we were, this lady who works there grabbed the bowl from me and did it for us. After saying thank you and feeling incredibly useless, we tried to stack the ingredients on top of the pile of ice. A few minutes of this and Dad suddenly says 'Eh, aren't we meant to put the ingredients into the bowl first then put the shaved ice above it?' And it dawned on me that 'Oh right. Ya I think that is the correct way!'. No wonder I haven't seen anyone else make ice kacang using so much effort before. lol That was noob incident Numero Uno.
The second one was when we and Mum wanted to make a cup of coffee. I wanted to try their 'Macchiato', not really knowing what it was. Now, the coffee machine looked something like the one in the picture above. Notice the little metal tube at the right hand side? The only difference is that this tube was right next to the white part with the 2 little tubes sticking out. So, after pressing the Macchiato button, I held the cup and had no idea where to put it! Under the 2 little white tubes in the centre? Or the little metal one at the side? I was shuffling between the 2 of them and finally I decided to put it in the centre. Milk started pouring out into my cup and I was relieved =p But then, the milk didn't stop til my whole cup was almost full! Then I thought 'Eh, where is the coffee?!!' And the whole dilemma started again. 'Maybe the coffee is meant to come out from the metal tube?' So I put it there, but nothing happened. Not having any other choice, I put my cup in the centre again and this time, coffee started dripping out :D There was so little coffee compared to milk though! But after a very uncertain 5 minutes, I finally got my coffee. LOL! Mum and me were laughing so hard and felt like such jakuns!
After that very heavy lunch, we went to KLCC to kill some time before my speaking test. At which I ended up spending an amount I don't want to mention on stuff from the Body Shop. I never understood why people were willing to spend so much on stuff from the Body Shop. I mean, I knew their stuff smelt nice and all but what are people paying so much for? Only recently did I come to know of all the different types of things they have to cure any problem you might have with your skin or on any part of your body. LOL jakun-ess. I love their Sea Salt body scrub thing. After using it, you really feel like the layer of dead skin on your body has been removed and you literally look fairer and cleaner. LOL Their cocoa butter lip balm was pretty amazing too. I had insanely dry and cracked lips walking into the shop, but the moment I tried applying some of that onto my lip, I could see my lip absorb the moisture immediately. It normally takes some time with a normal lip balm doesn't it? :D Expensive stuff but effective!
Anyway this was an uber long post about my Saturday! Quite a fun day, excluding the speaking test. I'm so happy to be home! :)
